Losing a loved one is an unimaginable pain, and for many families, the financial burden that follows only deepens the sorrow. Too often, we have seen families forced to auction cherished properties to cover funeral expenses, disrupting their lives, dividing loved ones, and reinforcing cycles of poverty. We have witnessed the heartbreaking struggle—families unable to pay mortuary bills, relatives scrambling for funds to bury their loved ones and perform traditional rites, and children forced to abandon school due to financial strain.
Akworsi was created to change this narrative. We believe that every person deserves a dignified burial, whether at home or repatriated. Through a community-driven insurance scheme, some associations do provide financial assistance to the families of a deceased registered member in the diaspora to ensure their loved ones receive the farewell they deserve—without devastating financial consequences.

Akworsi is a Community Solidarity Collective formed to ensure that every departed loved one receives a respectful, compassionate, and dignified farewell, regardless of social or financial circumstance. We exist to support families during some of life’s most difficult moments, bringing people together to ease the emotional and financial burdens that accompany loss. Rooted in empathy, unity, and shared responsibility, Akworsi reflects the belief that no family should face loss alone.
To provide compassionate, dignified support to families experiencing loss by fostering community solidarity, eliminating financial barriers to last respects, and ensuring every departed soul is honored with equality and respect.
A world where every individual, regardless of social status, background, or circumstance, receives a dignified farewell; where communities come together with empathy, unity, and shared responsibility to comfort families in grief.
